About the film
What if you called for an ambulance and one never showed up?

The goal of our documentary is to raise awareness of the systemic collapse of EMS and to advocate for change. Shockingly, most states don’t mandate the provision of EMS so funding is unpredictable and inadequate. There is a critical workforce shortage, particularly in rural areas, which in turn has lead to much longer response times.
This is something that will affect all of us and we should be very concerned.

Producer Bryony Gilbey is a former CBS News 60 Minutes and ABC producer and mother of three EMS professionals. This is a very personal project for her and in fact she has self-financed all of the production costs to date.
Producer Richard Diefenbach is a former broadcast news journalist (ABC/CBS/FOX), professional history and English teacher, and owner of RPD Media Associates, LLC.

Featuring photography by Derek O. Hanley from the book Photos From The Front Lines: A Year On The Streets Of Alameda County
